Private Medicals & Reports

The NHS provides most health care free of charge. However there are a number of other services for which fees are chargeable. Services not covered by the NHS include things such as medical reports for insurance companies, medical reports for PCV / HGV drivers, letters for fitness to travel, holiday cancellations etc.

Our NHS clinical work is always our priority and we may have to decline private requests if we do not have the clinical resources available.

If a GP is required to write a letter, sign a certificate or complete any kind of medical report, it is a professional duty that they check the accuracy of the information. This may involve examining the patient’s entire medical record.

Such work is time consuming and is carried out on a first come first serve basis.  Generally the timescale for the completion for this type of work is between 4 and 6 weeks depending on the complexity and the level of detail required.  Timescales are also affected by the number of requests we get. There is a fixed amount of time and resource available so, if we have numerous requests, timescales for completion may be longer.

When handing in a request, please make sure to pass it onto a member of the Reception team so it can be logged, do not pass it to a GP during an appointment as this will mean we cannot inform you when the request has been completed.

Fees are based on the amount of time it takes and how complex it is to complete the work. See link below.

Where possible, we will advise you of the fee once you have handed in the request; however in some cases we will not be able to advise a fee until the GP has completed the request.

If you require a letter or report to be completed you need to provide all the information necessary in writing. This should include the reason for the report, whom it is for and your express consent for us to share your confidential medical information. If we don’t have this information this will cause a delay in the completion of the work. You also need to allow enough time for the work to be completed.

Travel Vaccinations

Quote / Testimonial:
Unfortunately we are unable to provide private travel vaccinations from 1st July 2019.

It is important to contact a local travel clinic as early as possible before you travel to seek advice, receive the vaccinations and allow them to work effectively.

Some sources of advice and local contacts are listed below;

Pneumococcal Vaccination

A single dose vaccination is recommended for all patients over 65 years and those with heart, lung or kidney disease and diabetes.

Flu Vaccination

An influenza vaccination is strongly recommended for all patients over 65 years of age and those with heart, lung or kidney disease, diabetes and residents of nursing and residential homes as well as their carers.

Please contact the reception staff in September for details of the vaccination dates and to make an appointment. If you are unable to attend the surgery, a home visit will be arranged to undertake this facility.

Patients Over 75 Years

If you are aged 75 years or over, you should be seen annually either by your doctor, the practice nurse, district nurse or health visitor. This can be arranged at your surgery or, if that is not possible, a home visit can be arranged.

Ear micro suction clinic

If you suffer with persistent pain and deafness due to ear wax, despite treatment by irrigation, your Dr may seek prior approval from the CCG to refer you to our micro suction clinic. This is a simple painless procedure carried out at our Grange Park Surgery.

Minor Surgery

The doctors carry out minor surgical procedures, by appointment at our Grange Park Surgery.

Family Planning Clinic

Contraceptive care is provided by all the doctors and qualified practice nurses during surgery hours.

Baby Clinic

The baby clinics are run by the health visitor for child developmental checks and immunisations and allow an opportunity to discuss other problems eg sleeping, feeding and child health worries, with a practice nurse or health visitor.

Antenatal Clinic

Patients are seen by the midwife at the surgeries by appointment and also by the doctors during surgery hours.
