Teaching Practice

We are an approved Foundation and GP Registrar teaching practice.

Some surgeries each week will be taken by trainees and you will continue to receive good quality care. As a teaching practice we must always be reviewing the way we work and we feel that this is an advantage to all our patients. All trainees are closely supervised by an experienced trainer at a level appropriate to their competency. Trainees bring fresh knowledge and enthusiasm to our teams and we learn from them as they learn from us.

All doctors in training with us have completed their university training and student placements and are qualified medical doctors with at least one year of experience in a hospital setting.

Foundation doctors are placed with us for four months to improve their knowledge of the whole healthcare system and to help them decide which area of medicine they might specialise in later.

GP Registrars have completed their hospital and community placements and have chosen to specialise in General Practice. This speciality training will take another 3 years and by their final placement GP Registrars will be working independently.

Many GP Registrars choose to stay with us for at least the early part of their career as a GP and some have gone on to become GP Partners, including Drs Hillier and Taylor, now retired, and Dr Younus, now one of our trainers.

If you have any concerns about consulting with a trainee please advise the reception staff.
